BSN Manchester: Next Meeting

As discussed, we now wish to set up a management committee to move our organisation forward. This first committee meeting will be at 6pm on Monday the 18th April 2016 at Kenworthy Chambers Arlington House, Bloom Street, Salford, M3 6AJ. This meeting will be  for anyone interested in joining the management committee.

Like most voluntary groups, the success of our network depends on the commitment of volunteers. We are hopeful that we can get a number of people to form an active management committee to plan events and move the Black Solicitors Network North forward.

Anyone putting themselves forward for the committee should be prepared to commit to a couple of hours a month over the course of the year. We want to attract a range of people including solicitors, students, barristers and academics to enable everyone’s voice to be heard.

We would initially suggest that committee appointments would be for a year initially, but that decision would need to be decided at the first meeting.

Committee duties will include tasks (but not limited to)

  • Appointment of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary
  • Liaising with the Black Solicitors Network (main group)
  • Liaising with Law Society Reps, Regional Law Societies and other groups
  • Planning events – Social, training, educational and workshop events
  • Promoting events
  • Generating Funding

Agenda for the first committee meeting would include

  • Forming a committee
  • Adoption of the constitution
  • Discussing/ planning the next event
  • Any other business

Please do get involved, as without your help, the network will not be a success.

RSVP if you are attending. We just need an idea of numbers for refreshments.
