This year marks BSN’s 25th anniversary of striving towards an equal profession and we hope you will join us to toast our jubilee year!  As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we are delighted to be partnering with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer for BSN’s Big Conversation 2020 entitled ‘How do we operationalise vocal commitments on race in the law?’.

Global events in 2020 have brought issues of race and racism to the top of the world’s agenda, there is a momentum towards change, but how do we turn this momentum into action and tangible and sustainable change?

Our panel discussion featuring Professor Leslie Thomas QC (Barrister at Garden Court Chambers), Sharon Blackman (Managing Director and General Counsel at Citi), Gabriel Mpubani (Partner and Co-Head of the Africa Group at Freshfields) and Suyi Fred-Omojole (Head of Legal and Chief of Staff at Anergi Group) will be moderated by Paulette Mastin (BSN Chair).

Event schedule:

  • 6pm – Event welcome and opening remarks from Paulette Mastin (BSN Chair)
  • 25 years of BSN by Cordella Bart-Stewart (BSN Co-Founder)
  • Panel discussion – “How do we operationalise vocal commitments on race in the law?”
  • Audience Q&A (via questions submitted live online)
  • Closing remarks by Paul McFarlane (BSN Director)
  • 7:30pm – Event close
