Inspired to Succeed with Baroness Young of Hornsey

March 17, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Linklaters BAME Network*, in association with the City branch of the Black Solicitors Network,
is delighted to host the fourth event of our “Inspired to Succeed” series. This series of events
aims to assist with enhancing interpersonal skills and offers the opportunity to build relationships across the City.

Baroness Young of Hornsey will present the next event in the series, which focuses on flexibility – discussing how to recognise opportunities as they arise and sharing the tools to seize them. This builds on the earlier events in the series from initial contact, through to building successful client relationships and using influencing, persuasion and negotiation skills professionally
and effectively.

After an acting career in theatre and television, Baroness Young became an arts administrator, later moving on to become professor of Cultural Studies at Middlesex University, a writer, cultural critic, public speaker and broadcaster. After a period as project director leading a major initiative at the Black Cultural Archives, she subsequently became Head of Culture at
the Greater London Authority. A member of the House of Lords since 2004, Baroness Young is an Independent Cross Bench Peer and has been involved in campaigns criminalising and combating modern forms of enslavement, and improving the experiences of children in care. In addition, she is a member of the House of Lords EU sub-committee on External Affairs  and Defence.
