Accutrainee
In 2012 Accutrainee introduced an innovative concept to the legal industry, creating a unique training contract for aspiring solicitors. To date we have helped over 100 legal professionals qualify as solicitors giving them opportunities at a wide range of companies from FTSE100 to start-ups and from large City firms to boutiques.
We have always been committed to improving diversity in the legal profession and whilst 38% of our current trainee cohort identify as BAME, we recognise there continues to be a disproportionate under-representation of lawyers with black heritage from less socially mobile backgrounds. This is why we have come together with some D&I supporters and a number of forward-thinking organisations to offer a unique opportunity to qualify as a Solicitor through our Scholarship Programme.
About the Programme
Accutrainee is offering a unique route to qualification where trainees are sponsored to undertake their Solicitors Qualifying Examinations and provided with the necessary qualifying work experience to qualify as Solicitors. Where scholars have selected the training contract route, they will be offered a training contract.
As your training partner and employer, Accutrainee will continually monitor and assess both the work you are conducting, as well as your development throughout your training period and be there to support you every step of the way.
Who Should Apply?
The programme has no minimum grade requirements, but we are looking for highly talented university graduates who identify as having black heritage with a genuine passion and interest in law and a strong desire to qualify as UK solicitors.
The current scholarship programme is more suited to candidates who aspire to a career in commercial law and who feel they may have an interest in the fintech industry.
Applicants should be available to start their training contract or qualifying work experience from the first quarter of 2021.
We will accept applications from:
- Candidates who have completed the LPC.
- Candidates who are currently studying the LPC but would be available to work full time.
- Candidates who are looking to follow the SQE route to qualification.
The Process
The Application – We will want to gain an understanding of your personal history and achievements to date. We want to understand the journey you have taken, any obstacles you have overcome and where you want your career to lead you.
The Assessment – We will be assessing candidates intellectual, analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, communication and organisational skills with a focus on resilience, commercial awareness, teamwork, passion for law and dedication to succeed.
The Opportunity – If successful you will be enrolled onto courses in 2021 to support you in attaining the SQE part 1. You will also be offered a paid role starting in 2021 to gain qualifying work experience at our sponsor organisations which will involve placements within a law firm and/or in-house departments. At a time that is appropriate to your specific needs, you will then be supported in completing the SQE part 2 as well as any outstanding qualifying work experience needed in support of your qualification as a Solicitor. In the event that you have selected the training contract route, you will be given a training contract and will be seconded to our sponsor organisations consisting of law firms and/or in-house departments. We will also discuss with you funding towards your LPC.
Throughout the process, Accutrainee will provide you with support, mentoring and training; continually assessing your development to give you the very best opportunity to succeed.
Post Qualification – We will support you to find a suitable qualified role but it is our hope that you will be introduced to your future employer through this programme and the placements that you complete.
