The office of Regional Tribunal Judge is a key position of judicial leadership and management. As a Regional Judge, you will ensure that appeals are decided fairly, making the most efficient use of resources. Join the tribunal and you will lead, on average, 12 salaried judges and 250 fee-paid judges and members, running training, appraisal and mentoring schemes, promoting career development, planning the deployment of judges and managing projects. Members are drawn from different disciplines - medicine, disability analysis and accountancy.

You will sit regularly within the jurisdiction and throughout your region, dealing particularly with those cases that are complex or have wider significance. The annual caseload of each region is in the range of 50,000 to 70,000 appeals.

The JAC welcomes applications from solicitors, barristers, advocates and Fellows of the Institute of Legal Executives, with five years' post qualification experience (PQE), or from those with other relevant legal expertise. The Lord Chancellor expects that candidates for the salaried posts will have sufficient directly relevant previous judicial experience. For this post the meaning of  directly relevant experience is sitting as a judge in any salaried capacity. Exceptions may be made for those who have demonstrated the necessary skills in some other significant way.
